PUBLIC NOTICE

Due to the high demand and the maximum volume of applications received for our Public Housing program, Buford Housing Authority has closed its waiting list, and no applications will be accepted until further notice. Please refer to this website periodically for updated information about the waiting list opening.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Public housing is limited to low-income families and individuals. Buford Housing Authority determines your eligibility based on: 1) annual gross income; 2) whether you qualify as elderly, a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. If you are eligible, the Housing Authority will check your references to make sure you and your family will be good tenants. Buford Housing Authority will deny admission to any applicant whose habits and practices may be expected to have a detrimental effect on other tenants or on the project's environment or those who show a history of failing to meet financial obligations such as the payment of rent and utilities including electricity, gas, water, telephone, sewage and garbage. All screening is done in accordance with Buford Housing Authority's Admissions & Continued Occupancy Policy.

Federal requirements prohibit Housing Authorities from providing assistance to the following individuals:

Persons who are registered on any state sexual predator list.

Persons who have been convicted for the manufacture or sale of methamphetamines on the premises of federally assisted housing.
